Kamaʻole Beach Parks (I, II & III)
Kihei, South Maui
Three Grassy Kīhei Beach Parks With Showers, Picnic Tables and Bodysurf Waves
The three Kamaʻole Beach Parks line South Kīhei Road and share one profile on the state-affiliated beach-safety site. Kamaʻole II is described as a very white sand beach between two rocky points, with a grassy park, restrooms, showers, picnic tables, barbecue grills and paved parking; the site says Kamaʻole III is the smallest but seems the most popular. The site lists snorkeling, swimming, surfing, fishing and volleyball, with restaurants and gear rental nearby.
Hazards are real: the sandy bottom slopes quickly to overhead depths (dangerous for young or weak swimmers), large rocks are exposed along the water's edge in several places, and the ocean is safe for swimming except during heavy surf or kona storms, when strong rip currents and a powerful shorebreak make swimming very dangerous. The site's own disclaimer notes lifeguards are not always on duty and that its listings are informational and not always real-time; its live hazard ratings did not load, and no fee or lifeguard hours are stated. Alcohol, camping, fires and smoking are prohibited.
