The short version
What we collect
If you use Roamwise without creating an account, we collect nothing about you — your search history, saved places, and questionnaire answers live only in your own browser's local storage, and are never sent to us. The only exceptions are the two forms below, which send us exactly what you type into them and nothing else.
If you create an account (email sign-in), we store:
- Your email address, used only to send you a sign-in link. We don't send marketing emails.
- Your traveler-profile answers (fitness level, interests, budget, and similar preferences from the questionnaire), so we can remember them for next time.
- Places you've saved and trips you've generated and chosen to save, so they're available across your devices.
If you join the launch list or send feedback (no account needed), we store:
- Launch list: your email address, the island you said you're planning (if you chose one), and which page of our site you signed up on. We use it to email you when Roamwise launches, and we don't share it with anyone.
- Feedback: your rating and message, the page you sent it from, and your email only if you chose to add one so we can reply. When you send feedback from an itinerary, we also attach a few general facts about that trip (the island, number of days, budget, pace and number of stops), but never the places themselves or anything that identifies you.
We don't collect payment information (Roamwise doesn't charge for anything right now), and we don't track your location — the itineraries are built from what you tell us, not from where your device is.
How we use it
Solely to run the product: matching recommendations to your stated comfort levels and interests, keeping your saved places and trips in sync across devices, and letting you pick up where you left off ("welcome back") the next time you plan a trip. We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.
Third-party services
Roamwise is built on a small number of services that necessarily see some of this data in order to make the product work:
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles sign-in. Your account data lives here.
- Resend — delivers the sign-in emails. It sees your email address only for that purpose.
- Vercel — hosts the website itself, and provides the privacy-friendly analytics we use to see aggregate visit/page-view counts. It doesn't use cookies, and doesn't track you individually across visits or other websites.
- OpenStreetMap & OSRM — power the maps and driving-route estimates on your itinerary. When a map is shown, your browser loads map tiles and route data directly from these services, which means your IP address is visible to them the same way it would be for any website request — we don't share any other information with them.
None of these services are permitted to use your data for their own advertising, and we don't run any advertising or cross-site tracking scripts of any kind.
Cookies
We use a single cookie to keep you signed in between visits. That's it — our analytics don't use cookies either, and there's no advertising or cross-site tracking of any kind.
Your data, your control
You can stop using an account at any time by simply not signing back in — nothing is required to "opt out." To have your account and all associated data (saved places, saved trips, preferences), or your launch-list or feedback entries, permanently deleted, email us at hello@getroamwise.com and we'll take care of it.
Changes to this policy
If how we handle data ever changes, we'll update this page and change the date at the top. We won't start doing anything materially different with data already collected without telling you first.
