
Kapaʻeleʻele Trail
Kāne'ohe to Windward / Toward North Shore
Kapaʻeleʻele Trail is a 1.2-mile loop on the western hillside above Kahana Bay. The trail winds
through shaded forest before opening to breathtaking views of the bay, the historic Huilua
Fishpond, and the dramatic Koʻolau Mountains.
Unlike many Oʻahu hikes, this trail is designed as an interpretive cultural experience. Along the
route you'll encounter archaeological sites that illustrate how Native Hawaiians sustainably
managed one of the island's most productive fishing areas. Hawaii DLNR
