Keālia Trail
North Shore Oahu
Keālia Trail is located above Mokulēʻia on Oʻahu's North Shore and is part of the Nā Ala Hele
Trail System. The hike begins near Kawaihāpai (formerly Dillingham) Airfield and climbs a steep
series of switchbacks before reaching a ridgeline overlooking the coastline.
The trail is unique because it serves two very different audiences:
● Casual hikers often complete the climb to the Keālia Shelter, enjoying panoramic ocean
views before returning.
● Experienced hikers and backpackers continue along the old forest roads into the
Kuaokalā Forest Reserve, connecting to Peacock Flats, Mokulēʻia Access Road, and
other backcountry routes. Alaka'i Aloha

Shelter or a full-day backcountry adventure toward Peacock Flats, this trail offers some
of the island's finest ridge hiking with far fewer crowds than Oʻahu's more famous
destinations.
