
Puʻu o Hulu / Māʻili Pillbox Trail (Pink Pillbox)

Puʻu o Hulu is located above Māʻili on Oʻahu’s west side. The hike follows a dry ridge toward
several historic military observation bunkers, including the famous Pink Pillbox, which has
become one of the island’s most photographed viewpoints. Aloha Secrets

● Less crowded than Lanikai
● Drier and hotter than Windward trails
● Better sunset views than many east-side options
● More rugged terrain than its short distance suggests

- •Bring more water than you think—you will feel the heat quickly.
- •Wear shoes with traction because loose rocks make descending harder.
- •Avoid hiking midday.
- •Stay after sunset only if you have a flashlight/headlamp.
- •Do not climb on the edges of pillboxes for photos.
