Giovanni's Shrimp Truck
Kahuku & Haleʻiwa, North Shore Oʻahu
🦐 North Shore Food Icon
Giovanni's is arguably the most recognizable shrimp truck in Hawaiʻi.
The story began with a converted 1953 bread truck that traveled around Oʻahu's North Shore in
the early 1990s. In 1996, Giovanni's permanently parked in Kahuku, followed by the Haleʻiwa
location in 1997. The trucks became famous not only for their garlic shrimp, but also for their
graffiti-covered exterior, which developed as customers began signing the truck. Giovanni's

Today, Giovanni's is one of those places where the food and the road-trip experience are
inseparable.
For Roamwise, that's important.
This isn't simply a restaurant recommendation.
It's a North Shore experience.
🌺
Why Roamwise recommends this
Giovanni's Shrimp Truck is one of Oʻahu's quintessential food experiences.
The garlic shrimp are famous, but the real appeal is the combination of
roadside food, North Shore scenery, graffiti-covered trucks, and decades of
local history. It isn't necessarily the unanimous favorite shrimp truck among
locals, but its cultural footprint and iconic status make it one of the stops
every first-time visitor should consider.
